Study Detail: DRCR I

Trial Description

Summary: The research study is going to address the swelling and/or leakage of blood vessels in the small central part of the retina (called Macular Edema) in diabetic patients. The swelling in turn can lead to decreased vision. The study will use injections with or without laser treatments, or laser treatments alone.

Eligibility Criteria:

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 18 + years of age
  • Type 1 or 2 diabetes
  • Best corrected visual acuity score of 20/32 to 20/320
  • DME involving the center of the macula with OCT > 250 microns
  • Please check with study coordinator for other inclusion criteria

Exclusion Criteria

  • The primary investigator after reviewing medical and ocular conditions feel this treatment would not be to your benefit
  • Anti-VEGF treatment or pro- VEGF treatment w/in 4months prior to randomization
  • Please check with study coordinator for other exclusion criteria

Study Title: Intravitreal Ranibizumab or Triamcinolone Acetonide in Combination with Laser Photocoagulation for Diabetic Macular Edema.
