I had macular hole surgery in April, 2011. There was a lot of anxiety about the surgery itself and the "head down" week to follow. Dr. Schartman's low key personality helped a lot as did talking with others who had the surgery and the "head down". There was no pain at any time, during or after the surgery. The people at the surgery center were calm and warm which helped calm me down. I ordered the equipment for the "head down" and that helped so very much. Others gave me many hints on how to handle this and I learned other things on my own and would be happy to share them with anyone who is facing this surgery."
